Although, please note that some companies, like Sigma, have found ways around this for certain products.

Do your research and determine which features are most important to you before making a purchase since each product will have certain compromises to keep costs down. Before making a purchase, it’s also important to factor other things like extra batteries, microphones if you plan to shoot video, and memory cards at the minimum when you’re just getting started.

Cameras are long-term investments, so durability and longevity are important considerations. With proper care and maintenance, cameras can last for several years. On average, a well-maintained camera can serve a photographer for 5 to 7 years or more. Check with your manufacturer to see if they offer protection plans in case something goes wrong. It’s common for photographers to have at least one extra camera on hand in case something goes wrong at an event and their camera needs to be sent back for repair. It's worth noting that technological advancements and evolving industry trends may influence the desire to upgrade equipment sooner. However, don’t become afflicted with GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) because anyone who purchases a camera with 4k capabilities will likely have a tool that’s serviceable to customers for the next decade or longer.
