Handley Regional Library

Handley Library is a historic library building located at 100 West Piccadilly Street in Winchester, Virginia, United States. Completed in 1913, construction of the Beaux-Arts style building was funded by a wealthy Pennsylvania businessman.

Today was one of those perfect days where everything just seemed to fall into place.

I spent the evening exploring some amazing spots around Winchester, VA, to find the best locations for engagement photos with Megan and Cody. I have to say, I’m absolutely in love with Handley Regional Library and Downtown Winchester. Here’s why they stood out to me.

The moment I arrived at Handley Regional Library, I felt like I’d stepped into a different era.

The gardens surrounding the library are so lush and vibrant, especially with all the flowers in full bloom. z

I could just imagine a couple wandering through, holding hands and laughing, with the greenery providing such a romantic backdrop.

The balconies at the library are another highlight-

-They’re perfect for those intimate, almost fairy-tale-like shots.

Everywhere were beautiful backdrops. From the woodwork to the grand columns, every inch of the library seemed like it was designed for stunning photos. It’s a perfect mix of elegance and romance.

After the library, we headed over to Downtown Winchester, and it was like stepping into another world. The cobblestone streets and historic buildings give the area such a charming, old-world feel. It’s like a little slice of history, and I could easily imagine a couple wandering these streets, capturing the essence of their love.

What we love most about Downtown Winchester is the variety.

In just an hour, you can go from a cozy café to a vibrant mural, from a quaint storefront to a peaceful, tree-lined street. This variety means you can get so many different looks and moods in one session, which is perfect for telling a complete love story.

Despite its historic charm, downtown also has a modern edge. There are some newer shops and murals that add a fresh, contemporary twist to the area. This blend of old and new gives it a unique vibe that’s perfect for engagement photos.

Depending on the time of year, downtown is often decorated with seasonal touches that add an extra layer of charm. Today, I saw the first hints of summer decor starting to appear, and it made me think about how festive and lively the area must look in different seasons.

After spending the day at Handley Regional Library and Downtown Winchester, I’m more convinced than ever that these are some of the best spots for engagement photos in the area.

Each place has its own unique charm and offers a variety of beautiful backdrops.
