Archive: Miki + Andy Elope in Brookside Gardens, Maryland

M & A

I had the ultimate pleasure of photographing Miki and Andy’s elopement
(their story of love!!) on June 5, 2023.

Miki and Andy eloped in the evening at Brookside Gardens, located in Wheaton, Maryland. We spent the afternoon together, capturing their First Look under the Japanese Tea House, strolling through the Azalea Gardens, eventually leading to a quick snack from PLNT Burger before their ceremony in the Fragrance Garden. It was truly so special for them. Why? Let’s talk about why elopements are AWESOME!

In a world of big weddings and overwhelming details, eloping has become the cool and stress-free alternative for couples looking for an intimate celebration. If the thought of a traditional wedding gives you anxiety, then eloping might just be your thing. As a wedding photographer, I find more and more couples are leaning towards eloping. Why? Elopements are intimate and special, easy to plan, and oh-so-perfect for those seeking an alternative to the grand wedding scene.

  1. Get Comfy with Intimacy: Elopements are all about stripping away the frills and focusing on what truly matters: your love for each other. No need to worry about a huge guest list or extravagant setups. It's just you and your partner, sharing a beautifully intimate moment. And let's be honest, that's pretty darn special.

  2. Be YOU!: Say goodbye to societal expectations and hello to ultimate freedom. Elopements give you the chance to do things your way. Want to exchange vows on a mountaintop, by the beach, or in a hidden forest? You got it! The absence of outside influences means you can plan an elopement that's authentically and unapologetically you.

  3. Easy-Peasy Planning: Forget the headache of planning a massive event. Elopements are refreshingly simple to organize. With a smaller guest list (or no guests at all), you can focus on the essentials without feeling overwhelmed. Choose a dreamy location, add some minimalistic decor, and voila! You're on your way to a stress-free celebration.

  4. Save Some Moolah!: Let's talk money. Traditional weddings can drain your bank account faster than you can say "I do." Elopements, on the other hand, offer a more budget-friendly alternative. With fewer guests and scaled-down arrangements, you can save your hard-earned cash for what really matters. Maybe it's hiring an amazing photographer or splurging on a post-elopement adventure!

  5. Embrace Spontaneity: If you're all about going with the flow, eloping is your ticket to an adventure-filled celebration. Say yes to spontaneity! Whether you decide to tie the knot under the stars or whisk yourselves away to a far-off destination, elopements let you embrace the unexpected and create memories that will last a lifetime.

While traditional weddings have their allure, elopements offer a unique and stress-free experience for couples who prefer an intimate celebration. By embracing the intimacy, freedom, and simplicity that elopements bring, you can create a wedding day that truly reflects your love story. So, if you're feeling overwhelmed by the grand wedding scene, consider the beauty and ease of eloping.

It's all about celebrating your love in a way that feels right for you.
