Support = Reward: An Entry on Saving Money and Making Dreams Come True
Do you want to invest in a photography session but you never seem to have the extra funds? I can relate. Even as a photographer, I would like to indulge in photography sessions for myself (or heck, even other things like getting my eyebrows waxed, or my hair recolored, or a damn vacation every now and then). After thinking about this subject for a few days, I discovered something we can all do in order to gain a session, slowly but steadily.
The first thing you should do is Research. Look into a photographer in your area whose style you like; you can find photographers on Google, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, or even through friends & family suggestions. Once you've determined who's work you like best, you can do a few things before actually scheduling anything with them (which could save you money!). A few things you can do:
Give them a call or send them an email. Ask a few important questions like:
What are your rates?
Do you offer payment plan options? (SO IMPORTANT)
Do you have a studio?
What products/services do I receive when booking a session with you?
Do you require a deposit? If so, how much?
Are there any additional costs I should be aware of?
Subscribe to their email list for potential rewards!
Loyalty is important to photographers, or anyone with a business. Subscribers are rewarded for their loyalty and usually given:
Promo codes or coupons
Special discounts sent via email
Follow them on social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
A social community usually involves giveaways or raffles
Discover their latest news and updates (like sales)
Potential promo codes or coupons
By involving yourself in your photographer's business life, you have the opportunity to discover potential sales, promos, giveaways, and more before booking a session with them! Don’t be shy. Involve, involve, involve. This doesn’t cost you a penny and could get you a sweet deal.
Though following your dream photographer on social media/email doesn’t get you an immediate photography session, it does allow you have the opportunity to save money. During this time, be aware of the sales or promo codes they offer and take advantage of them. If you’ve been following them for a while and you still haven’t seen any sales/ promos/ giveaways, this is the perfect chance for you to start SAVING. If you reached out to your photographer prior and discovered their rates/ payment plans, you can start preparing. You can either save in private until you reach a certain goal or you can get straight to it and set up a payment plan with them!
Wanting a photography session doesn’t have to be a far, distant dream you never can reach. It’s okay to plan a session a year in advance if needed. Find patience and acknowledge your wants and dreams. Allow time to help you achieve your financial goals and once achieved, make your dreams come true.
